Biography

Spiro is a partner in our Banking and Projects group.

He has extensive experience across a broad range of banking matters including acquisition finance, real estate finance and general corporate finance.

Spiro advises major corporate borrowers, sponsors, and financial institutions on banking and finance transactions.

Spiro is also admitted as an attorney of the New York State Bar.

Experience

Spiro’s experience includes advising:

  • Goldman Sachs on its $1.1 billion refinancing of TEG’s debt facilities.

  • Viva Energy Group on its US$1 billion refinancing of corporate debt facilities and $1.15 billion acquisition of OTR Group.

  • Waypoint REIT on its initial ASX listing as a REIT, including its $837 million syndicated debt facilities for the sale and lease-back of 425 Shell/Coles Express petrol stations and subsequent refinancings.

  • AXA Investment Managers on its strategic partnership with NHFIC and community housing provider St George Community Housing to develop affordable housing including its inaugural 350 dwelling affordable housing project.

  • GIC (Realty) on various real property investments including The Chifley Plaza & Tower and Westfield Parramatta.

  • The lenders to Stanmore Resources on its US$625 million acquisition of BHP’s 80% interest in BHP Mitsui Coal.

  • Goodstart Childcare on the refinancing of its senior debt facilities and the original $165 million acquisition of the ABC Learning Childcare business.

  • APN Property on its acquisition by DEXUS Property Group (covering $3 billion+ of real estate assets) and the refinancing of its Convenience Retail REIT debt financing facilities.

  • Peregrine Corporation on the sale of the OTR Group, including a network of 226 stores (with 195 fuel and convenience stores and 31 standalone stores) and the related restructure of its existing debt facilities.

  • Pacific Equity Partners on various acquisition facilities including UP Education, Healthe Care, Cranky Health and Citadel.

  • Colinton Capital Partners on the financing aspects of various acquisitions including AMA Group, Buildsafe and Midas Healthcare.

  • For Purpose Investment Partners in partnership with the Paul Ramsay Foundation on the acquisition and development financing for various disability accommodation property assets.
