Biography
Richard is a special counsel in our Competition, Consumer and Market Regulation group.
He is experienced across the spectrum of Australian competition law, including assisting clients in relation to transactional matters, investigations and strategic advisory work. Richard has a particular focus on complex merger clearance matters often involving multi-jurisdictional regulatory processes. He has extensive experience negotiating and managing statutory undertaking remedies with the ACCC. Richard has worked with clients in a broad range of industries, and has particular expertise working with private equity clients and clients in the financial services and health sciences sector.
Prior to joining G+T, Richard worked in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. During that time, Richard was also seconded to the firm’s Washington D.C. office.

The Australian Banking Association (ABA) and its member banks on an application for authorisation to enable member banks to collaborate on development of industry standards to combat scams, as well as other general advice.
Culligan Group on the Australian competition law aspects of its global acquisition of Waterlogic Group.
The Stars Group in relation to ACCC clearance for its all-share combination with Flutter Entertainment.
Elanco on the Australian competition law aspects of its global acquisition of Bayer’s animal health business, including obtaining ACCC merger clearance and implementation of its post-closing divestments.
Mineral Resources on the sale of a 60% share in its Wodgina Lithium Project and the establishment of a joint venture agreement with Albemarle Corporation to operate the mine.
Westpac on the formation of a new digital platform using blockchain technology to manage how businesses obtain and handle bank guarantees.
