Peter Munro

Biography

Peter is a partner in our Disputes and Investigations group.

He specialises in commercial and corporate disputes, investigations, inquiries and contentious matters. He has extensive experience advising and representing high profile companies, partnerships and individuals in relation to complex litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement, as well as government inquiries and Royal Commissions.

Peter has practised in multiple jurisdictions in Australia and spent four years’ litigating in one of New York’s premier litigation firms, where his practice focused on multi-billion-dollar complex disputes involving some of America’s most prestigious companies.

Peter has a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Hons), Bachelor of Communications from the University of Technology Sydney and a Masters of Law and Management from the University of New South Wales. He is admitted to practice in New South Wales, Australia’s Federal and High Courts, and New York, USA.

Experience

Peter’s experience includes advising:

  • Representing Downer EDI Limited in class action proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria alleging breaches of continuous disclosure obligations and misleading or deceptive conduct.

  • Representing BT Funds Management Limited and Westpac Life Insurance Services Limited in class action proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia alleging breaches of superannuation trustee obligations.

  • Representing PwC Australia in proceedings commenced in the Supreme Court of Victoria alleging deficiencies in transaction-related services.

  • Representing SiteMinder Limited in Supreme Court of New South Wales proceedings commenced by a former contractor company alleging contractual and other breaches.

  • Advising various clients in respect of regulatory investigations and processes including ASIC and ATO notices.
