Michael Spurritt

Biography

Michael is a special counsel in our Banking and Finance group.

He is renowned for his expertise representing financiers, sponsors and borrowers in a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

He has extensive experience in senior, mezzanine and bridge debt finance for leveraged acquisitions, as well as corporate, infrastructure, growth/venture and funds finance and restructuring/distressed lending. This includes particular expertise in advising clients on US and European style financings.

Michael has previously worked at Latham & Watkins in London and another top-tier firm in Sydney.

Experience

Michael’s experience includes advising:

  • An EQT led consortium on first lien, second lien and mezzanine facilities for its ~US$10 billion acquisition of Galderma (a leading global skincare company).

  • KKR on unitranche facilities for its $2.175 billion acquisition of Perpetual’s Wealth Management and Corporate Trust businesses.

  • The financiers to Intermediate Capital Group on $310 million unitranche facilities for its acquisition of Cura Day Hospitals.

  • The financiers to Livingbridge on $410 million unitranche facilities for its acquisition of Waste Services Group and subsequent bolt-on acquisitions.

  • The financiers to Apax on $385 million unitranche facilities for its acquisition of Pickles Auctions.

  • APM in relation to its $810 million social loan linked corporate facilities in 2022, $300 million social loan linked corporate facilities in 2023 and $950 million corporate facilities in 2024.

  • Anchorage Capital Partners on borrowing base facilities for its acquisition of David Jones.

  • The Entertainment and Education Group (a Quadrant Private Equity portfolio company) on its unitranche refinancing.

  • Pacific Equity Partners on senior facilities for its acquisition of farming land and assets in Australia and New Zealand.

  • Independent Vetcare (an EQT portfolio company and a leading European veterinary service provider) on its first lien and second lien refinancing.

  • Fitness and Lifestyle Group (a Quadrant Private Equity portfolio company) on its senior and mezzanine refinancing.

  • Adamantem Capital on unitranche facilities for its acquisition of CardiologyCo (GenesisCare’s cardiology business).
