Lisa Lennon

Biography

Lisa is a partner in our Technology and Intellectual Property group, and leads the Trade Marks/Registered IP practice.

She leads the Trade Marks/Registered IP practice. As a registered Trade Mark Attorney, she practises primarily in the brand protection and enforcement space specialising in Trade Marks, Designs and Domain Name law. Lisa acts for a number of market leading brands in the online space and across different commercial sectors including consumer and retail, FMCG, banking and finance, energy and resources, infrastructure, technology/telecommunications, ecommerce, music, entertainment, gaming and fashion.

Lisa also has extensive experience advising clients in relation to IP issues on commercial transactions and providing general commercial IP assistance and advice including with licensing and a range of other IP agreements. She also routinely advises on domain name issues such as cybersquatting, pre-emptive registrations and on-line dispute resolution.

Lisa has also been involved in various professional committees for INTA and auDA and is currently serving on the INTA Brands and Innovation Committee. She has also recently been appointed as an independent director to the Board of Surf Life Saving NSW.

  • Major technology companies, a major Australian Airline, CDC Data Centres, ATI Group, Shopify, Self Care, Starbucks, Bank of America, NRMA on their trade mark portfolios.

  • Woolworths, Citi, Insignia Financial (IOOF), The Lottery Corporation and Ingenia on strategic trademark counselling advice including brand clearance and protection.

  • CBL markets/Xpansiv on its carbon trading index, North Harbour Clean Energy and New Energy Group on their renewable marks.

  • State Street, an international technology company, Beforepay, a major Australian airline and Greater Bank in contested removal/opposition proceedings before IP Australia.

  • On the registration of various non-standard marks colour, shape, movement marks to enhance enforcement actions e.g., Alhambra for Arpels, Jeep grille shape, colour marks for iNova and movement marks for Instagram. 

  • Swoop Telecommunications, Servcorp, Starbucks, LEAP, Darrell Lea, Southern Cross Support Services, Grupo Gitano LLC and RailFirst on multiple enforcement and defence matters.

  • IOOF, Caltex, Darrel Lea, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Lendlease, Rail First and Cancer Council on trade mark infringement and consumer law claims.

  • On large corporate and M&A transactions in relation to IP issues, diligence, IP restructuring, complex brand and licensing issues.

  • HBO, Citadel, Ferrovial SA, a major technology company, Transurban and various other clients on the recovery of dot com.au domain names and registrability of dot.au domain names under the new licensing rules.
