Jeremy Jose

Biography

Jeremy is a partner in our Competition, Consumer and Market Regulation group.

He has over 17 years’ experience in merger review, market regulation and competition law, gained at G+T and from over nine years at the ACCC. 

Jeremy has advised clients in relation to a range of high profile and important matters, including OTR’s sale of its retail fuel business to Viva, Tabcorp’s acquisition of Tatts, Telstra‘s acquisition of Fetch TV and merger of Foxtel and Fox Sports, Anheuser-Busch InBev’s global merger with SAB Miller and the sale of CUB to Asahi. Jeremy has also advised on ACCC investigations into alleged criminal cartel and anti-competitive bundling conduct, ASIC investigations into alleged greenwashing and a variety of matters relating to electricity, gas, water and infrastructure access and regulation.

Jeremy has extensive experience in merger regulation arising from over six years as a senior member of the ACCC’s merger review team.  During that time, Jeremy was involved in the assessment of large and complex transactions including BG / Shell, Foxtel / Austar, AGL / Macquarie Generation and BHPB – Rio Tinto.   During his time at the ACCC, Jeremy also had a leading role in the ACCC’s East Coast Gas Inquiry.

Experience

Jeremy’s experience includes advising:

  • OTR Group on the successful ACCC clearance for its $1.15 billion acquisition by Viva Energy.

  • Several ASX-listed companies regarding ASIC investigations into potential greenwashing conduct.

  • Telstra on the ACCC application for the authorisation of its proposed network and spectrum sharing arrangement with TPG.

  • Telstra on its successful application for clearance of its acquisition of FetchTV.

  • Jaybro on the ACCC clearance of its acquisition of road safety barrier supplier and manufacturer Safe Direction.

  • Anheuser-Busch InBev in obtaining ACCC clearance for their global merger with SABMiller and for their $16 billion sale of CUB to Asahi.

  • Tabcorp on competition clearance for its $12 billion merger with Tatts.

  • Telstra regarding an ACCC investigation alleging that Telstra had misused its market power.
