Biography

Alex is a partner in our Corporate Advisory group.

For several years, Alex has been at the forefront of market-defining Private Capital transactions across various funds and strategies. He has cemented an elevated standing as one of the most active and sought-after legal advisors in the Private Capital industry in Australia, consistently delivering exceptional results for his clients.

Alex’s clients include global, regional and domestic financial sponsors, who regularly call on him for transactions of the highest complexity. Alex has broad sector expertise spanning healthcare, financial services, infrastructure, real estate, technology, business services, consumer and climate (among others).

Alex’s practice caters for all types of Private Capital transactions, including public-to-private, private treaty and capital markets transactions. This skill set is further complemented by deep experience advising on management equity plans, warranty and indemnity insurance and Australia’s foreign investment laws.

Experience

  • KKR on various transactions including the acquisition of a majority interest in Queensland Airports (in consortium with Skip Capital); the acquisition of Perpetual’s Corporate Trust and Wealth Management businesses; the acquisition of a majority interest in Colonial First State and establishment of a joint venture partnership with Commonwealth Bank of Australia; the acquisition of a majority interest in Education Perfect; the acquisition of a substantial interest in GreenCollar and the exit of that investment via a sale of GreenCollar to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan; the acquisition of a substantial interest in Advanced Navigation; the take-private of MYOB; the acquisition of Sofitel Wentworth; the acquisition of a majority interest in Synergis; various real estate joint ventures with LOGOS, Mubadala, Centennial and Altis; the exit of investments in Findex, Maia Financial and Santanol; various bolt-on transactions.

  • TPG on various transactions including the take-private of InvoCare; the acquisition of a majority interest in a portfolio of industrial assets from Growthpoint (via the Angelo Gordon platform); the acquisition of Ramsay Sime Derby Health Care; the acquisition of iNova; the acquisition of Novotech and multiple sell-down processes in relation to Novotech; the acquisitions of Domestique and Citadel-Magnus; various bolt-on transactions.

  • IFM on various transactions including its investments in Tally Group, Novigi, Colette and Tandem.

  • Livingbridge on the acquisition of Dimeo.

  • Qube on the acquisition of Melbourne International RoRo & Automotive Terminal.

  • Vitol on the acquisition of Shell’s Australian downstream business.

  • Ansell on the sale of its Sexual Wellness business.
