Gilbert + Tobin’s award winning IP Group has achieved another unique milestone.

The firm has succeeded in obtaining special leave to appeal to the High Court in two major cases in the same calendar year.

Patent litigation partner John Lee and his team are acting for Australia’s leading patent applicant Aristocrat Technologies in a very closely watched case relating to patent eligibility of computer related inventions.

Head of the IP Group Michael Williams and his team are acting for Self Care in an appeal which will consider whether the use of a trade mark in comparative advertising involves trade mark infringement and the scope of the corresponding statutory defence.

The Aristocrat case is listed for hearing in the High Court in Canberra on 9 and 10 June and Self Care will be listed for hearing later this year.
