Gilbert + Tobin is pleased to announce the appointment of Clare Pope who joins the firm as a Partner in the Energy + Resources team in the Perth office on 18 September 2023.

Clare joins G+T from PwC where she was a Partner in the legal practice since 2018, co-led the ESG legal practice internationally, and advised on transactions and major projects in the energy and resources sectors.

Clare’s expertise in the energy and resources sector is global, and includes advising on projects across  hydrogen, energy transition, carbon capture, oil and gas, mining, power and renewables sectors. She has worked in Perth, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Clare’s practice includes advising on joint venture agreements, product sales and offtake agreements, shareholders’ agreements, production sharing agreements, power purchase agreements, infrastructure access and sharing agreements and other commercial contracts supporting energy and resources projects.

Aligned with the opportunities that the energy transition presents, Clare has developed particular expertise in the hydrogen industry and is advising on a significant number of green and low carbon hydrogen and ammonia projects, as well as three carbon capture and underground storage projects in Australia.
