Gilbert + Tobin has appointed Lixian Liang who joins the firm as a Partner in the Energy + Infrastructure team in the Sydney office on 7 August 2023.

Lixian joins G+T from Ashurst where she was a Counsel in their Brisbane office advising on major projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. She has outstanding cross-sector expertise having acted on the procurement and delivery of significant projects in the renewables and infrastructure space in Australia and offshore for government, sponsors, developers, banks and contractors during her time in major law firms and in-house, including Lendlease and AEMO.

Aligned with the opportunities that the energy transition presents, Lixian has deep experience and market knowledge in renewables and battery projects and a strong understanding of the shifting commercial and legal risks in the procurement and structuring of these projects.

Partner and Head of Energy + Infrastructure Alexander Danne alongside partner and head of Banking + Projects John Schembri, both commented that the firm is excited to welcome Lixian as she brings an abundance of experience across the industry and her knowledge in particular in the battery sector, would complement existing capabilities of the team:
