Gilbert + Tobin is pleased to announce the appointment of George Varma, who joins the firm as a Partner in the Energy + Resources team in the Perth office on 11 December 2023. His appointment marks the second lateral partner hire this financial year by Gilbert + Tobin in Perth.

George joins from Pinsent Masons where he led their global hydrogen practice. He specialises in renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, CCUS & synthetic fuels and brings extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region. He has particular expertise structuring and delivering greenfield hydrogen and emerging technology projects.

His appointment strengthens the Gilbert + Tobin Perth office, bringing front-end construction expertise, and ensures that clients have access to market leading support locally at every stage of their project’s lifecycle.
