Our culture fosters and celebrates inclusion
At G+T, we are deeply committed to cultivating an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute. Our dedication to diversity and inclusion is not only the right thing to do - it strengthens our firm and benefits our clients. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace drives innovation, attracts top talent, enhances outcomes for our clients and empowers our people to live our core values.
Our Diversity Council leads this effort, supported by dedicated focus areas, including Cultural and Social Inclusion, Disability and Accessibility, First Nations, Gender and LGBTQ+. We are also proud to collaborate for equality as a founding signatory to the Law Council of Australia’s Equitable Briefing Policy, as a major partner of the Diversity Council Australia, and as a recognised Diversity Council Australia Inclusive Employer.
Cultural and social inclusion
Our workforce is diverse in cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds, and we take pride in the richness this diversity brings to G+T. As a key partner of Diversity Council Australia, we foster an inclusive environment where everyone’s talent is valued.
We participate in Diversity Council Australia’s RISE project to empower culturally and racially marginalised (CARM) women and increase their representation in leadership roles.
We’ve also introduced initiatives such as public holiday swaps, cultural competency and anti-racism training and the recognition and celebration of significant cultural events, ensuring inclusivity is embedded in our everyday practices.
Disability and accessibility
We are dedicated to building a culture and environment where everyone can thrive. This includes making necessary adjustments to empower people with disabilities at G+T to succeed. From the recruitment process through to ongoing employment, we offer workplace adjustments to ensure our people have the support they need to perform at their best.
In partnership with the Australian Disability Network, we participate in the Stepping Into and PACE mentoring programs, which provide valuable work experience and mentoring to students with disabilities. We are also proud members of The Valuable 500, a global initiative that champions disability inclusion as a business priority.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan includes a commitment to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians among our employees. We do this through our Indigenous cadetship program for law students, and places for Indigenous people in non-legal roles.
We have an embedded First Nations Cadetship Program that has been running for 15 years and has seen over 50+ First Nations university students participate.
Gender equality
We've made great strides in gender equality and have one of the highest proportions of female partners among top-tier firms. However, we know there's still more to do. We're dedicated to continuing our efforts and launching new initiatives to further promote gender equality within our firm.
41% of our partners are women.
We aim to have 45% women in partnership by 2027, with a long-term goal of achieving gender equality.
In 2024, 70% of promotions to partnership and special counsel were women.
In 2024, G+T was 1 of only 17 law firms to receive a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation, a recognition we have consistently held for 15 years.
We are a Diverse Women in Law Silver sponsor.
We sponsor and host networking events for Heads Over Heels.
We sponsor and host networking events for SmartWomen Connect.
Parental leave
We offer 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave, which can be taken at half pay or in two separate periods within 24 months of the child’s birth, adoption or surrogacy.
Gender pay equity
We are focused on ensuring we achieve gender pay equity for like roles. Our 2023 median total remuneration gender pay gap is 9.2%, while the median for the legal industry is 17.1%.
Flexibility
Flexible work practices are essential for enhancing our diversity outcomes. A significant portion of our workforce takes advantage of part-time work schedules, with many also working remotely, both formally and informally.
LGBTQ+
PRIDE@G+T is our LGBTQ+ and allies group. It is dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for LGBTQ+ issues both within G+T and in the broader community.
We have implemented progressive policies, including those related to gender affirmation, and we actively celebrate and raise awareness for significant LGBTQ+ events such as Mardi Gras, Pride Month and Wear It Purple Day. We are a proud member of Pride in Diversity, and we collaborate with Pride in Diversity, the Pride Foundation Australia and Pride Professionals to provide valuable information, training, mentoring and fundraising initiatives.
Mental health and wellbeing
G+T is dedicated to enhancing psychological safety and establishing robust mental health and wellbeing practices. As a Signatory to the Minds Count Foundation’s Workplace Wellbeing Best Practice Guidelines for the legal profession, we are committed to creating a workplace where mental health awareness is high, and our people feel safe and supported in discussing mental health issues.
By fostering a higher level of psychological safety, we aim to achieve greater inclusion, improved wellbeing and enhanced performance.
